The Trinity Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (Dip TESOL) is a TESOL or TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) Diploma, an advanced level qualification designed for experienced English language teachers looking to progress to a career in academic management or in teacher training.

This is a 9-month online learning course, followed by an intensive 2-week assessment period at our school in London, Greenwich. The Dip TESOL is accredited by Trinity College London at level 7 on the UK’s regulated qualifications framework, the same level as master’s degrees and many other postgraduate qualifications.

The course aims to provide you with:

  • Knowledge of the main theories of teaching and how they relate to English language teaching (ELT)
  • A greatly increased set of techniques that you can use in the classroom
  • Familiarity with a set of key academic texts and websites
  • An awareness of how to support colleagues, including new teachers, in the work environment

HOW IT WORKS

The DipTESOL is a combination of 9 months of online training, and 2 weeks of face-to-face training and assessment at our school in London Greenwich. The entire course is scheduled as a 12-month programme, but you can take up to 3 years to submit coursework, and attend assessments if required.

In the 9 months of online learning we will cover 18 topics, and more. You will also begin, develop, and start to submit your coursework during this time, and will receive examination guidance before the 2-week component in London. The 2-week training and assessment component takes place every May, August, and November. It is expected that you will choose the first available date after completing the online learning component.
