If you are at a level A0 or A1, it’s recommended you start with the General English programme, which will focus on improving your four key English language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Depending on your goals for improving your English levels, you can also choose to add-on specialised electives (in the UK and North America only), which will focus your language learning and fast-track your progression. The longer you study, the more your language levels will improve. You can choose to study for as little as one week or as long as you’d like. Please be aware of the potential visa requirements that may apply depending on the country you choose to study in.
Choosing the right General English course depends on your language level, schedule, and goals! All core English lessons are taught in the mornings, and specialised electives are taught in the afternoons. If you have availability in the afternoons, it’s recommended to add on specialised electives (available in the UK and North America only) to fast-track your language learning and focus your skills. Our specialised electives vary depending on demand, but in most cases, we offer 21st Century Business, English for Confident Speaking, English for Exam Skills, and English for Customer Service. There may be additional electives available to choose from depending on the season, availability, or group size. By taking a General English course with specialised electives (Semi-Intensive 23/26, Intensive 27/30, Super Intensive 37/40), this allows you to customise your learning experience and enhance your English skills to achieve your goals, whether they be to improve your English for daily use, immigration purposes, higher education, career progression, or something else! Learn more about our specialised electives here.
On the first day, students will take a placement test assessing the four key language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This allows our instructors to evaluate proficiency levels accurately and place students in the most suitable class. The test results also help instructors identify individual strengths and areas for improvement, and support students in becoming confident, independent learners both inside and outside the classroom.
Yes! If you want to fully customise your experience, you can choose to take 1:1 private lessons with one of our dedicated and highly-qualified instructors, semi-private lessons (where available), or you can add-on specialised electives to focus in on core English skills. Across most of our schools (available in the UK and North America), we offer specialised electives as part of the General English programme. Our specialised electives vary depending on demand but in most cases, we offer 21st Century Business, English for Confident Speaking, English for Exam Skills, and English for Customer Service. There may be additional electives available to choose from depending on the season, availability, or group size. Learn more about our specialised electives here.
