Statement on school closures 08-04

Statement on our current school closures from Gary Palmer, Managing Director – UK English Language – April 7th 2020

Dear valued partners and students,

We hope you are all staying safe, healthy and indoors during this unprecedented time of change to our normal way of life.

As you know, on 18th March we took the decision to temporarily close our UK language school premises until Tuesday 14th April. We are now extending this temporary closure until Monday 4th May. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but in the interests of helping to prevent the spread of the virus and save lives, we feel this is the best course of action and in line with current UK Government advice.

We are sure you are all aware by now of the Oxford International Virtual Classroom. All existing classes at the time of the closure have been successfully transferred online, with excellent feedback from our students about their new virtual classroom and lessons. Please click here to read some student feedback and testimonials.

Since I last wrote to you we have also launched a range of online courses for new students. New adult students are now able to study General English or IELTS preparation and take 1:1 tutorial sessions in the Virtual Classroom. We have also launched virtual lessons for closed junior groups or international classes for junior individuals. Junior students can also study 1:1 with a native speaker online too.

We thank you for your continued support in these difficult times – our aim here at Oxford International is always to provide the best educational experience while making the safety and welfare of our students and staff our top priority.

A review will take place week commencing 27th April as to whether there is a need to extend the closure or re-open. Should the situation improve dramatically we will re-open as soon as possible but will continue to follow UK Government guidelines.

Kind regards,
Gary Palmer
